Hello Long Beach Friends Family!

This begins our correspondence with you. We are in Eudora, Kansas, a small town about six miles outside of Lawrence (the city where Emily will be going to school). Aaron can fill you in on the details of the trip, but we left California on Friday, June 20 and arrived in Kansas on Sunday night, June 22. On Monday we optimistically searched for apartments, but were a little discouraged by the end of the day when we had only a few leads after what seemed like a day full of fruitless phone calls and apartment viewings. Still, we spent time in prayer, knowing that God would give us direction. And He did. By the end of Tuesday, we had five potential apartments that would meet our needs. It was simply a matter of finding out where God wanted us to be. Independently, and then together, God guided Emily and my heart to the small town of Eudora. Having prayed about the decision, we called the landlord in Eudora and told him we'd take the apartment. It isn't the most glamourous apartment, and the air conditioner is not currently working, but it gets the job done. More importantly, Emily and I both feel that God is going to use us here in Eudora, most likely with the young people. Emily's parents have been helping us move in, but we have a long way to go. The mosquitoes are the size of birds, we have rabbits in our back yard, and some kind of bird decided to give us a solo performance at 3 a.m. last night.

We pray that you are doing well. Thank you especially to those of you who prayed for us and helped us as we packed. Your efforts and service are a true testament for your love for our Lord. We miss you and think of you often, remembering you with gratitude and thanksgiving. Please pray for us as we seek God's will for our lives here, especially in how we can be used to further His kingdom. Thus far, it has been a journey of seeing how God provides, even when we doubt Him and are reluctant to step out in faith. He is surely faithful!

Email is a bit of a problem now, since we don't have a service provider here, but we will make every effort to figure something out so we can correspond more often.

Trusting in His promises,

Dave and Emily
